What the hell?
The same could be said about issue 33, I guess. And I probably should have reviewed that one, since that was the one where they did the big reveal on Twilight's identity. Stop reading now if you haven't read it and don't want to be spoiled....
SPOILERS...
So Twilight is Angel, which is pretty goddamn ridiculous, considering everything that's been going on in his own series. Not to mention the fact that he's directly responsible for the deaths of a bunch of (as far as we know) innocent people. But that hasn't seemingly been a problem for him since Season 5 of his show anyway (the Drogyn thing still really doesn't sit well with me). So, yeah, issue 33 was quite the WTF.
This one was in some ways even more of one. It didn't really contain any big revelations, just a bunch of cryptic talk from Giles that hinted about something big but never really spelled anything out. And the rest of the book was Buffy and Angel banging. Seriously, the book is just about 50% Giles spouting cryptic nonsense and 50% Buffy/Angel sex.
I've read some people on the internet claim that (current story arc writer) Brad Meltzer's work reads like fan fiction. And I never really felt that way before, but it's pretty tough to deny about this particular issue. Half the book is devoted to Buffy and Angel doing it! Come on!
And also, they're flying while they do it.
And I'm someone who liked Season 6 of the show. Actually, that's probably my favorite season. I didn't think there was too much sex (people often refer to it derisively as "Season Sex"). I thought the Buffy/Spike scene in "Smashed" where they tear up that old house while they get it on was done pretty darn well.
This was seriously just ridiculous.
